Official first day as a Ph.D. student at Purdue University in the School of Mechanical Engineering, and a member of the brand-new Physics-based and Bayesian Machine Learning Lab!
My hello to the world!
By seeking and blundering we learn - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Hello! I am Tuan, a Ph.D. student @ Purdue MechE!
I started my Ph.D. training in August 2026 as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Physics-based and Bayesian Machine Learning Lab, led by Prof. Sascha Ranftl. Before graduate school, I was an undergraduate student majoring in Mechatronics Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology from 2021 to 2024. During my undergraduate years, I was mentored by Dr. Nguyen Thai Minh Tuan of Project XYZT, and Dr. Dinh Gia Ninh and Dr. Nguyen Duc Tien of the Materials and Structures Group. After getting my Bachelor's degree, I was extremely lucky to have got the chance to work as an engineer for LG Innotek, and later FIH Mobile Ltd., a Foxconn subsidiary.
Outside of research, I enjoy many things in life. I love tinkering with electronics, often at the cost of rendering them bricked and/or completely unusable. I am a dog person even though circumstances have never allowed me to have one. I love outdoor activities: walking, running, biking and hiking. I also enjoy shopping, especially for groceries and tech gadgets.
